Osaka (Pakistan Accumulators) Batteries
Osaka is the tubular-battery volume brand of Pakistan Accumulators (Pvt) Ltd, one of the first local manufacturers of tubular-plate flooded lead-acid batteries for solar and UPS duty. As of 2 August 2026, Osaka's tall tubular 12V units list between Rs 35,000 and Rs 90,740 each — with the same amp-hour capacity selling under two different badges (TA and HT) at prices as much as Rs 28,000 apart at the same shop.
That badge split is the single most important thing to understand before you buy, and this page treats it before anything else.

Prices are single-unit retail listings gathered on 2 August 2026 from SolarApp.pk, BatteryUstad, SolarPricePakistan and two published price lists (SolarPanelPriceInPak dated 15 June 2026, SolarPricePro dated 20 July 2026). The spread within each row is real, not noise — the same TA-1800 is listed at Rs 43,500 by one Lahore battery shop and Rs 63,600 by an electronics retailer. Battery prices track lead and the dollar; re-confirm on the day you buy.
The TA/HT badge situation. Osaka's own website today lists its tall tubular line as HT-1800 through HT-3500 — on product URLs that still read ta-1800, ta-2500 and so on — with the same voltage, plate counts and case dimensions as the TA units in shops. The market sells both badges side by side, and the TA badge consistently carries the premium: SolarApp.pk simultaneously lists "TA 2500 230AH" at Rs 80,400 and "HT 2500 250AH" at Rs 52,420. We could not find any official Osaka statement explaining the relationship between the two series. Until someone shows you a spec sheet proving otherwise, treat a big TA-over-HT premium with suspicion and ask the dealer to justify it in writing.
Honest assessment
Pros. Tubular positive plates genuinely outlast the flat-plate "local" batteries most UPS shops push: the active material sits inside woven tubes and cannot shed the way sponge-lead plates do, which is why tubular is the only lead-acid construction worth buying for daily solar cycling. Osaka is locally manufactured, available in every city, and every mohalla battery shop can service, water-test or replace one — no BMS, no protocol pairing, no firmware. A decade-long PakWheels owner thread includes multi-year satisfied users running 48V banks on Infini/Voltronic inverters.
Cons. The cycle economics no longer favour it — see the maths below. Quality consistency draws complaints: the same PakWheels thread contains a unit that stopped accepting charge within its first month (replaced under warranty, via the shopkeeper) and the blunt verdict that "there is no quality check in Pakistan for such products." Water top-up is a real chore in Pakistani heat, warranty terms are published nowhere official, and the TA/HT badge confusion makes overpaying easy.
Who should buy. Buyers with a small 12V or 24V backup setup and a hard budget cap — one or two tubulars is still the cheapest working battery bank you can build. Buyers replacing one battery in an existing tubular bank. Anyone building a new 48V solar system should read the lithium comparison below before defaulting to four tubulars.
Pakistan reality check
Heat. Above roughly 35C ambient, flooded lead-acid self-discharge and water loss accelerate sharply — and most Pakistani battery rooms and garages spend the whole summer above that. Keep the bank in the coolest ventilated spot available and expect shorter life in Multan than in Murree. A battery running hot (50C+) must be taken off charge immediately; the PakWheels thread includes a first-hand account of a directly-solar-charged unit exploding.
Water top-up cadence. Monthly checks via float indicators, distilled water only. Real-world usage from owner reports: ~250ml per battery per month under heavy daily cycling, versus three top-ups in over a year on light solar duty with correct charge settings. Wrong charger voltages boil water off fast — get bulk/float set to Osaka's card values by your installer and verify with a multimeter.
Warranty fine print. Dealers quote 6-12 months depending on model and shop; Osaka's official product pages publish no warranty terms at all, and retailer listings hedge with "as per company policy." In practice, the claim happens at the shop that sold you the battery: owners report replacements honoured within the window, but everything depends on the invoice, the serial and the dealer relationship. Get the warranty duration and the words "free replacement" written on the invoice, and know that discharge abuse (running the bank flat repeatedly) is the standard claim-rejection reason.
Depth of discharge is the hidden spec. Every cycle-life figure collapses if you routinely pull the bank below half charge. At Pakistani load-shedding patterns, an undersized tubular bank cycled to 80% DoD nightly can sulfate to death in under two years — this, not manufacturing defects, is why so many owners feel cheated at year two.

The uncomfortable August 2026 fact: a 48V tubular bank now costs about the same upfront as a name-brand 5.12kWh lithium battery, while delivering a fraction of the lifetime energy. Per delivered kWh, the TA-2500 page runs the full maths — roughly Rs 31-47/kWh for tubular against roughly Rs 10-25/kWh for lithium even on conservative cycle assumptions. Tubular's honest remaining niche is the 12V/24V small system, the constrained-cash replacement purchase, and installations where the buyer values fix-it-anywhere serviceability over lifetime economics.
