Huawei SUN2000 Alarm 2032 — Grid Failed
What it means: The inverter can no longer see a live AC grid, so it has shut down. Huawei grades it Major and gives two causes for it — the grid is out, or the AC circuit is disconnected or the AC circuit breaker is off. During load shedding this alarm is the inverter behaving exactly as it should, and it clears by itself when the supply returns. A grid-tied SUN2000 without a battery and Backup Box cannot run your house during an outage, and that is a safety rule, not a defect.
Why does Huawei show 2032?
- Huawei's stated causes — the power grid has an outage, or the AC circuit is disconnected or the AC circuit breaker is off.
- Scheduled or unscheduled load shedding, which is the everyday explanation in Pakistan.
- The solar AC breaker at the distribution board tripped or was switched off, sometimes by a electrician working on something else and never switched back.
- A blown fuse, a failed AC connection, or a fault downstream that took the breaker out.
The Pakistan factor
This is the alarm Pakistani owners see most often and worry about least usefully. On a normal load-shedding schedule a plain grid-tied SUN2000 will log 2032 every single day, and that is correct behaviour — the anti-islanding rules require the inverter to drop off so it cannot backfeed a dead line while a lineman is working on it. The alarm only becomes a real problem when it appears while the neighbours have power. The pattern to watch for is a solar breaker that keeps tripping on hot afternoons, because in local installations that usually means an undersized or badly terminated AC circuit rather than a faulty inverter, and repeatedly resetting it is the worst possible response.
How to fix it (safe to try yourself)
- First check whether you actually have mains power in the house. If the street is dark and the fans are off, this is load shedding and there is nothing to fix — the inverter will restart itself when the supply comes back. Huawei's own first step is simply to check whether the AC voltage is normal.
- If the house has power but the inverter still reports 2032, look at the distribution board and find the breaker labelled for the solar system. Look only — do not start switching things.
- If that breaker is off because somebody switched it off deliberately, that is the answer, and your installer or electrician should be the one to put it back on after confirming why it was off.
- If the breaker tripped by itself, do not simply switch it back on and do not reset it repeatedly. Huawei is explicit about this — if the AC switch is off, do not turn it on directly. A breaker that trips on its own is reporting a fault downstream, and forcing it closed onto that fault is how you get an arc or a fire.
- Call your installer for a tripped breaker. The check Huawei asks for next is a measured impedance test on the inverter and the external cables before the switch goes back on, and if that reads abnormal the unit goes to the vendor or Huawei technical support. That is metered work on an isolated circuit, not something to attempt at the board.
- If your system has a battery and a Backup Box and the house still goes dark during an outage, that is a separate commissioning problem with the backup changeover, not alarm 2032 — log it with your installer as such.
