What the Dongfeng Vigo is
The Dongfeng Vigo is a front-wheel-drive battery-electric (BEV) compact SUV, launched in Pakistan by Chawla Green Motors on 15 January 2026. As of 26 July 2026 it costs Rs 6,999,000 for the E1 and Rs 7,499,000 for the E2, ex-factory, with a Rs 1,200,000 booking amount on both.
It is a pure EV — no petrol engine, no fuel tank, no range extender. Dongfeng sells range-extender and petrol models in other markets under nearby names; the Vigo in Pakistan is not one of them.

Ex-factory excludes freight, registration and provincial taxes. Both variants share the same battery, motor and range — the Rs 500,000 gap buys equipment, not performance. The E2 adds two airbags, the 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, electric heated and ventilated seats, and wireless charging. The E1 also goes without blind-spot monitoring, which the E1 owner reviewed by PakWheels flagged as a real omission at this price.
One source (ProPakistani's launch report) lists the E2 at Rs 7,499,999. PakWheels, DrivePK and MarkLines all carry Rs 7,499,000; we use the majority figure.

Pakistani listings are inconsistent on the test cycle: PakWheels' table gives 430 km with no cycle named, PakWheels' own launch article and DrivePK state 353 km WLTP, and one owner review calls 430 km "NEDC". Chawla Green Motors' official page quotes "up to 480 km CLTC" — that is the 51.87 kWh battery option, which is not the pack sold in Pakistan. The car you can buy here has 44.94 kWh, 430 km CLTC and 353 km WLTP.

Running cost per km
Basis: 14.5 kWh per 100 km at the wall — the 13 kWh/100 km logged by a Pakistani owner over 11,000 km, plus roughly 11% charging loss. A measured number, not a brochure number.

A real-world cross-check. The 11,000 km owner reports Rs 8.2/km all-in, implying about Rs 63/unit — the top of a domestic slab, and close to our Rs 9.43/km row. An E1 owner who switched from an MG reports his 50 km daily commute fell from roughly Rs 1,700 to about Rs 500, saving around Rs 36,000 a month.
The SolarNevs line: charging from your own roof is the only route to genuinely cheap kilometres — about Rs 0/km marginal once the panels are paid for. At 14.5 kWh/100 km, a 585W panel producing roughly 2.3 kWh/day in Pakistani conditions covers about 16 km/day: 30 km/day → 2 panels (~1.17 kW), 50 km/day → 4 panels (~2.34 kW), 80 km/day → 6 panels (~3.51 kW). Panels for the car alone, on top of household load, assuming you charge in daylight.
Honest assessment
Pros. Genuinely efficient — 13 kWh/100 km measured over 11,000 km is excellent for a 1.65 m-tall SUV, and it is why the Vigo out-ranges the BYD Atto 2 on WLTP (353 km vs 323 km) despite less power. The owner who ran it hardest rated the ride above premium sedans he had owned. Practicality is strong: 500 L boot plus a 72 L frunk, V2L, five real seats. Servicing is near-free early on — free diagnostics every 5,000 km, first paid service at 40,000 km for about Rs 12,000.
Cons. Owners are specific: no Android Auto without a third-party dongle, a weak horn the 11,000 km owner called a highway safety issue, and no mobile app. Parts are punishing — an E1 owner was quoted Rs 300,000 for a single headlight. Registered in a luxury bracket, minor speeding tickets have come in at Rs 20,000. And the warranty terms are genuinely unclear.
Who should buy it. Someone doing 40-100 km a day in a major city who has rooftop solar or will install it, wants SUV space without SUV running costs, and accepts that intercity travel needs planning. Buy the E2 — six airbags and blind-spot monitoring are safety equipment, not a trim upgrade. If you cannot charge at home, buy something else.
Pakistan reality check
Real versus claimed range. The 430 km headline is CLTC, the most optimistic cycle in common use; the same car is homologated at 353 km WLTP. Pakistani owner data is unusually good here: the E2 owner at 11,000 km reports 300-308 km in city driving and about 200 km at 120 km/h, and an E1 owner reports about 370 km in city traffic with the AC on plus a 270 km Lahore-Gujranwala round trip with 60 km to spare. Plan around 305 km mixed — roughly 29% below the claim, right on the shortfall Pakistani EV owners typically report, and more than 50% below it on the motorway.
Battery and warranty — read this twice. Every source agrees the battery is covered for eight years. Nobody agrees on the kilometres. PakWheels' E2 page says 200,000 km; PakWheels' own owner-review blog says 150,000 km alongside a 5-year / 100,000 km vehicle warranty; TechJuice's launch report says 170,000 km. That is a 50,000 km spread on the single most expensive component in the car, and we could not resolve it against an official Chawla Green Motors warranty document. Do not accept a verbal figure — ask for the warranty booklet and read the kilometre cap yourself before you pay.
On top of that, no battery replacement price has been published in Pakistan for the 44.94 kWh LFP pack, and no independent local quote exists. Given a single headlight is Rs 300,000, this is not a question to leave open.

Home charging after net billing. Since 9 February 2026 new rooftop solar connections fall under net billing: exports earn roughly Rs 11/unit while imports land above Rs 50. Exporting no longer pays. Charging the Vigo between 10am and 4pm from your own panels is now the single highest-value use of a Pakistani rooftop system. Agreements dated before 9 Feb 2026 keep their 1:1 terms.
Charging network. NEECA had licensed around 71 stations nationally as of July 2025 with 128 applications pending — but licences are not chargers. Reporting through 2025-26 documents delayed DISCO connections, separate-meter installation and pending NOCs, leaving roughly 20 genuinely operational public charging points nationwide against a 3,000-by-2030 target. Public DC runs Rs 110-150/kWh against a Rs 39.70/kWh policy cap nobody appears to honour — the owner above needed about 55 minutes for a 7-90% commercial charge, roughly Rs 4,300 a fill.

Load-shedding and monsoon. A 6.6 kW wall box needs about 7.6 uninterrupted hours to fill 44.94 kWh. On a feeder that drops for hours daily, solar plus storage is not optional. Packs of this class are typically sealed to around IP67 — adequate for standing water, not submersion — and Chawla Green Motors does not publish the Vigo's IP rating. If the car has stood in water above the sill, do not attempt to restart it. Tow it and have it inspected: a restarted submerged EV is a fire risk and will not be covered.

Insurance and resale. The E1 owner's advice was to buy comprehensive EV insurance explicitly covering the battery and electrical components — standard Pakistani motor policies are not written for multi-million-rupee packs. On resale, Pakistan has no meaningful used-EV price history and no standard battery state-of-health disclosure, and the Vigo has been on sale only since January 2026. Nobody, including us, can tell you what it will be worth in 2029.

The Vigo E2 sits Rs 209,000 above the BYD Atto 2 and wins on WLTP range (353 vs 323 km) and camera tech; the Atto 2 wins on power (174 vs 161 hp), on BYD's far deeper Pakistani service and assembly footprint, and on a warranty you can actually read. Against Dongfeng's own Box Flagship, the Vigo E1 asks Rs 199,000 more for a substantially bigger, faster, better-equipped car — the easiest recommendation in the range. We do not sell cars and take no dealer money: cross-shop the Atto 2 seriously, and settle the home-charging question first.

Eight years is agreed across sources; the kilometre cap is not. Pakistani listings quote 150,000, 170,000 and 200,000 km. That is a Rs-millions difference in protection. Insist on the warranty booklet before paying.
E1 or E2?
The E2 costs Rs 500,000 more and adds six airbags instead of four, the 360-degree camera, sunroof, electric seats and wireless charging. Same battery, same motor, same range. The E1 also lacks blind-spot monitoring.
Can I charge it from rooftop solar?
Yes, and after the February 2026 net-billing switch it is the best use of a rooftop system. Exports now earn about Rs 11/unit against Rs 50+ imports. At 14.5 kWh/100 km, one 585W panel covers roughly 16 km a day.
