How this calculator works — the actual arithmetic

  1. Daily charging energy = (km per day ÷ 100) × kWh per 100 km — 2.5 for a bike or scooter, 13 for a car.
  2. Panels = daily charging energy ÷ the kWh one panel delivers per day, rounded up, minimum one.
  3. The per-panel figure has no Saudi default: no irradiance source we could reach is one we would print.
  4. Cost is shown only if you supply a panel price. Saudi listings quote per-watt rates that only compare within a module class — see the Saudi panel survey.

Why there is no worked example on this page

No worked example, for the same reason the sizing calculator has none: the inputs have no publishable Saudi defaults. Our Saudi panel price survey has the real SAR rows we do have, each with its module class attached.

  • Cars charge when they are plugged in, not when the sun is up. Without storage this is an annual-energy answer.
  • Under net billing, self-consumption is worth three to five times export, which makes daytime charging materially better than overnight charging in this market.
  • Heat and dust both cut delivered output, and neither is in the arithmetic.
