WarrantyGrowatt's warranty runs from the installation date on the installation certificate, no more than six months after delivery, and is contingent on the country of sale, the country of installation and after-sales service all being the same country - the clause that matters most when a unit is bought from a reseller with no published brand authorisation. Get the term written on the invoice and check the serial number against Growatt's warranty lookup.

The Growatt SPE 12000 ES is a 12 kW single-phase hybrid inverter — grid, solar and a 48 V battery bank on one box, with a backup output — listed in Dubai at AED 3,391 on 5 August 2026, in stock at maxima.solar.

It is the volume-hybrid option on that shelf, and its datasheet holds up: the two claims the UAE listing makes that are worth checking — 550 VDC maximum PV input and parallel expansion to 108 kW — are both confirmed by Growatt's own document.

The one thing the listing does not tell you

It is sold as a "grid hybrid" and it is rated IP20 — no protection against water whatsoever. A 12 kW hybrid is the kind of unit that ends up on an external wall next to the DB, and this one must not. Plant room, garage, or a properly ventilated indoor space; and in a UAE summer, ventilated is not optional, because efficiency and lifetime both fall with sustained heat.

The second caveat is quieter. The datasheet publishes the 108 kW parallel ceiling but never a unit count, so the "nine units" arithmetic circulating on reseller pages is inference, not specification. If a parallel design is the point of buying this model, ask for the parallel-kit documentation up front.

What 12 kW single-phase means in the UAE

Twelve kilowatts on a single phase is a large domestic inverter. Villas on a three-phase DEWA supply are usually better served by a three-phase unit — the WIT 15K-HU on the same shelf is one — because a large single-phase load unbalances a three-phase connection, and because DEWA's connection process is written around balanced systems. Confirm what your supply actually is before choosing this over a three-phase hybrid.

The per-kilowatt column is arithmetic on the listed prices, and it is not an apples-to-apples ranking — an IP66 three-phase hybrid with 290 A battery current is a different machine from an IP20 single-phase one. One seller is not a market price: every figure here is what one Dubai shop listed on one day and enters our UAE price index as exactly that.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Growatt SPE 12000 ES cost in the UAE?

AED 3,391 at maxima.solar on 5 August 2026, in stock. One seller, one day - not a UAE market price. At 12 kW that is AED 283 per kilowatt of rated output, against AED 462/kW for the WIT 15K-HU on the same shelf.

Is 550 V really the maximum PV voltage?

Yes - Growatt's own datasheet states a 550 V maximum DC voltage, with the MPP window running 60-480 V and a 120 V start. The UAE listing's 550 VDC claim is correct. Size strings against 550 V on the coldest morning, not against the 480 V window ceiling.

Can it really scale to 108 kW?

Growatt's datasheet cover states parallel operation for capacity expansion up to 108 kW, and that figure is confirmed. What the datasheet never prints is a maximum unit count, so any 'nine units' figure you see is someone's arithmetic rather than a specification. Ask Growatt or the distributor for the parallel-kit documentation before designing around it.

Can it be installed outdoors?

No. Growatt rates this unit IP20 - indoor only, no water protection - even though it is sold as a grid hybrid and photographed on walls. In the UAE that means a ventilated plant room or garage. Anything else voids the environment the unit is rated for.

How fast does it switch to backup?

Under 20 ms as a single unit and under 30 ms in parallel, per the datasheet. That is fast enough that computers, routers and most modern appliances do not notice. It is not fast enough to be called uninterruptible for equipment with a genuinely zero-transfer requirement.

How big a battery can it charge?

The datasheet gives 250 A maximum charging and 280 A maximum discharging current at 48 V nominal - roughly 12 kW charge and 13.4 kW discharge. That is a large low-voltage bank, and at those currents cable sizing and busbar quality stop being an installer detail and become the safety question.
