MG Electric Cars
MG Motor Pakistan sells the widest electrified range of any assembler in the country: two battery-electric cars with real highway ability, one plug-in hybrid, one conventional hybrid, plus a city EV and a halo roadster. Prices run from Rs 5,699,000 for the Binguo EV to Rs 14,999,000 for the ZS EV MCE Long Range, all ex-factory as listed on 26 July 2026. MG is also, unfortunately, the brand most likely to confuse a Pakistani buyer about what they are actually purchasing, because it sells a BEV, a PHEV and an HEV under overlapping names at overlapping prices.

BEV, PHEV, HEV — get this right before you spend Rs 10 million
Conflating these three is the most expensive mistake in Pakistani EV buying, and MG's own naming invites it.
- BEV (battery electric) — MG4 EV Urban, ZS EV, Binguo EV, MG 5 EV, Cyberster. No engine, no fuel tank. Must be plugged in. Running cost as low as Rs 4.48/km, or effectively zero from your own solar.
- PHEV (plug-in hybrid) — HS Super Hybrid only. 24.7 kWh battery plus a 1.5-litre turbo engine. Plugs in, drives about 95 km on electricity in real Pakistani conditions, then runs on petrol indefinitely.
- HEV (conventional hybrid) — HS Hybrid+. A 1.83 kWh battery, no charge port, no electric-only driving. It is a petrol car with electric assist. It will never cost you Rs 5.89/km.
The HS Hybrid+ at Rs 9,499,000 and the HS Super Hybrid at Rs 10,199,000 look like trim levels of the same car. They are not. Rs 700,000 is the difference between a car that can run on sunlight and one that cannot. Ask for the battery kWh and confirm the charge port physically exists before you sign.
What running an MG EV actually costs in Pakistan
Three electricity prices matter, and the gap between them is enormous.
Source | Rate | MG4 EV Urban (19 kWh/100 km) | ZS EV Essence (22 kWh/100 km) | HS Super Hybrid EV mode (25 kWh/100 km) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Off-peak EV tariff (NEPRA EVCS base) | Rs 23.57/unit | Rs 4.48/km | Rs 5.19/km | Rs 5.89/km |
Home slab (typical band) | Rs 40-65/unit | Rs 7.60-12.35/km | Rs 8.80-14.30/km | Rs 10.00-16.25/km |
Public DC fast charging | Rs 110-120/unit | Rs 20.90-22.80/km | Rs 24.20-26.40/km | Rs 27.50-30.00/km |
Rooftop solar, self-consumed | ~0 marginal | ~Rs 0/km | ~Rs 0/km | ~Rs 0/km |
Petrol comparison | Rs 331.52/L (24 Jul 2026) | Rs 25.50/km at 13 km/L | Rs 30.14/km at 11 km/L | Rs 33.15/km at 10 km/L |
The headline is not that EVs are cheap. It is that an MG EV charged only at public DC chargers costs roughly what a petrol car costs. The savings come entirely from charging at home, on an off-peak meter, or from your own panels.
The SolarNevs signature line
Charging from rooftop solar is roughly Rs 0/km marginal — the array is already paid for and, since the February 2026 net-billing switch, exporting surplus to the grid earns only about Rs 11/unit against Rs 50-plus per unit to import. Selling sunlight back is now a bad trade. Putting it in a car battery is the best available use of a Pakistani rooftop system.
A 585 W panel produces roughly 2.3 kWh/day in Pakistani conditions. For a 50 km daily commute that means five panels for an MG4, five for a ZS EV Essence, six for an HS Super Hybrid — under 3.5 kW of array in every case.
The uncomfortable parts
The charging network is thin. NEECA has issued 72 EV charging licences since October 2024. Genuinely operational public sites nationwide are counted at roughly 20 to 50 depending on the survey, overwhelmingly in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad/Rawalpindi. DISCO connections, separate meters and NOCs are what stall the rest. If you cannot charge where you park, do not buy an MG BEV.
Battery replacement costs are unpublished. MG Pakistan does not publish a replacement price for any pack it sells — not the 43 kWh MG4, not the 51.1 or 72.6 kWh ZS EV, not the 24.7 kWh HS Super Hybrid. Figures circulating online are Indian-market numbers in Indian rupees. Post-warranty battery cost is an unpriced risk. Anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing.
The warranty terms do not reconcile. MG's EV listings show 8 years / 150,000 km on the battery and 5 years / 150,000 km on the vehicle. MG Pakistan's HS PHEV page shows a bare "5-Years-Warranty" badge. MG Capital's aftersales page advertises 4 years / 100,000 km with no EV clause at all. Three sources, three answers. Get the terms in writing on your invoice and warranty booklet.
Range claims are inflated at source. The MG4's 316 km is a genuine WLTP figure. The ZS EV's Pakistani-listed 360 km and 505 km are not — the same packs are certified 320 km and 440 km WLTP internationally. The HS Super Hybrid's 135 km EV range is NEDC, the most optimistic cycle of all. Then apply the roughly 28% real-world derate Pakistani owners report on highways with the AC running.
Resale is a genuine unknown. Pakistan has no battery state-of-health reporting standard and a used-EV buyer pool measured in dozens nationally. Buyers who cannot verify pack condition discount hard. One documented Pakistani case saw an imported BYD lose roughly 25% of value in two to three years. There is no reason to expect MG to do better, and the Rs 14,999,000 ZS EV Long Range carries the largest absolute rupee exposure in the range.
Monsoon. Traction packs are sealed to IP67 class — 30 minutes at one metre, not indefinite immersion. Never restart a vehicle that has been submerged above the wheels. Power it down, flatbed tow it, get a certified inspection. Never park in a plaza basement during a monsoon alert.
Where MG does well
MG's dealer footprint is the strongest argument for buying one. The 3S network expanded from 12 to 25 outlets across 15 cities by mid-2024 and has kept growing through 2025 and 2026. For an EV, being able to reach a franchised workshop in Multan or Sahiwal matters more than a brochure figure. The 8-year battery warranty, where it applies, is the longest EV coverage MG offers here. And LFP chemistry in the MG4 handles Pakistani heat and daily full charging better than the nickel-based packs in some rivals.
The recurring owner complaint is not the cars — it is parts. Imported components arrive slowly, service estimates run high, and infotainment software draws consistent criticism across the ZS EV owner base.
How to use these pages
Every price on this site is dated to the day we checked it, sourced to at least two independent Pakistani listings where they exist, and flagged where they do not. We do not sell cars and we take no dealer money. Where MG Pakistan has not published a number — AC charger kW ratings, battery replacement costs, PHEV combined output — we say so rather than filling the gap.
Start with the model page that matches how you charge, not the one that matches your budget. If you have rooftop solar and a wall socket where you park, the MG4 EV Urban at Rs 6,999,000 is the best value MG makes. If you do not, look at the HS Super Hybrid PHEV, or stay on petrol.
