Ex-factory is not what leaves your account. Registration, number plate, provincial token and any dealer handling are on top, and they vary by province. Ask the dealer for a single written on-road figure before you pay the booking amount, and ask whether that figure is locked or "subject to revision at delivery". In this market that clause has cost buyers hundreds of thousands of rupees between booking and handover.
There is one trim. If a showroom offers you a "long range" or "extended" Atto 3 at a premium, you are being sold either a foreign-market car through a grey channel or a story. Neither comes with Mega Motor Company's warranty.
Which battery is in the Pakistan Atto 3, 49.92 kWh or 60.48 kWh?
49.92 kWh. This is the single most misreported spec on the Pakistani internet, and it changes every calculation you are about to make.
Globally, BYD builds the Atto 3 in two forms. The standard-range car comes with a 49.92 kWh Blade pack, while the extended-range version has a 60.48 kWh pack. Pakistan gets the standard-range car. BYD Pakistan's own Atto 3 page states 49.92 kWh (July 2026), and PakWheels lists the same. Independent spec databases record the standard-range pack as 52.5 kWh gross with 49.9 kWh usable, which is the same car described more precisely.
This difference matters because a 21 percent difference in pack size is a 21 percent difference in range, in charging cost per fill, and in the size of the bill if the pack ever has to be replaced. Several Pakistani price aggregators, and at least one comparison article on this site published before this correction, carried 60.48 kWh. If you budgeted your daily use on that number, redo it.

How far will the Atto 3 really go on a charge?
BYD Pakistan advertises "up to 410 km". That is an NEDC number, and NEDC is a laboratory cycle Europe retired years ago because it flattered every car that took it.
On WLTP, which is closer to reality, the same 49.92 kWh Atto 3 is published between 320 km and 345 km depending on the source and wheel fitment. Independent real-world modelling of the standard-range car gives about 315 km combined, about 365 km in pure city running, and about 245 km on the highway.
Read those three numbers again, because they describe two different cars. Inside Lahore or Karachi, stop-start, regenerating at every light, 300 km-plus is genuinely achievable. On the M-2 at 120 km/h with the AC fighting a June afternoon, plan for 250 km and stop before you are nervous. Pakistani summer heat also drives cabin cooling load, which comes out of the same pack.
A safe planning rule for an Atto 3 owner in July 2026 is to assume 280 km of usable city range, 230 km of usable motorway range, and never let a highway trip depend on a charger you have not personally confirmed is working.
What does the Atto 3 cost per kilometre to run?
Start from energy, not from range claims. Real-world consumption for this car is about 158 Wh per km. Add roughly 10 percent for AC charging losses and you are drawing about 0.174 kWh from the meter for every kilometre traveled.

Now the uncomfortable part about Rs 23.57. That figure is NEPRA's base supply tariff for EV charging stations, cut from Rs 45.55 in April 2025, and it is also cited as the subsidised off-peak residential EV rate. Your existing domestic meter does not automatically charge this rate at 2am. Unless you are on a time-of-use connection with that rate approved on your bill, your marginal unit is priced on the domestic slab, which for a heavy household is Rs 47.69 base and materially more once fuel cost adjustment, surcharges and GST land.
So the honest headline is this. The Atto 3 saves you real money against petrol if you charge at home. It saves you a spectacular amount if you are genuinely on the EV tariff. It saves you almost nothing if you live on public DC chargers, where Rs 20 per km against petrol's Rs 27.60 is a thin margin for the inconvenience.
Note also that when NEPRA cut the base tariff to Rs 23.57 it removed the capped Rs 24.44 operator margin and left pricing to the market. That decision is precisely why retail DC prices sit at Rs 110 to Rs 120 while the policy documents still talk about Rs 39.70 and Rs 45. Both numbers are real. Only one of them is what you pay at the plug.
Can you charge it outside your own house?
Barely, and you should buy on that assumption.
NEECA has licensed 71 EV charging stations, but only 30 to 35 operational stations had approached the authority for registration as of mid-2025, with 128 more applications in process. The national target is 3,000 points by 2030. For a country the size of Pakistan, the working network today is a rounding error.
Practically, this means the Atto 3 is a two-charger car. The wallbox at your home does 95 percent of the work at 7 kW AC, taking roughly nine hours for a full fill overnight. The 70 kW DC capability, which BYD quotes as 30 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes, is for the handful of trips where you find a live charger.
Before you sign, sort the home side by preparing a dedicated circuit, an earth you trust, and an electrician who has installed an EV charger before rather than one who is about to learn on your house. If you already have solar, size the charging window against actual midday generation, not nameplate.
What happens when the battery needs replacing?
Nobody in Pakistan will tell you, and that is the finding.
As of July 2026 there is no published out-of-warranty Blade pack replacement price for the Atto 3 in Pakistan. BYD's Pakistan warranty is reported at 8 years or 150,000 km on the battery and 6 years or 160,000 km on the vehicle, whichever comes first. We could not obtain those terms from a BYD Pakistan document we could verify directly, so treat them as reported and get the warranty booklet in your hand before you pay.
Two practical protections. First, ask the dealer in writing for the current parts price of a complete high-voltage pack and of a single module, and what the labour position is if only one module fails. A distributor who cannot answer that has not planned for year nine. Second, keep every service record with the authorised network, because a Blade pack claim will turn on documented service history.
LFP chemistry is on your side here. It is durable, it tolerates being charged to 100 percent, and pack failures on this platform have been rare. But "rare" is not "priced", and an unpriced risk on a Rs 9 million asset belongs in your decision.
Should you buy now or wait for local assembly?
BYD and Mega Motor Company are building an assembly plant near Port Qasim, Karachi, with the first locally assembled car expected around mid-2026 and the plant operating in the third or fourth quarter of 2026, at an initial 25,000 units per year on double shift.
Pakistan's history is consistent. Local assembly cuts landed duty and usually cuts price, or at minimum stops the price rising. If you can wait two or three quarters and you are buying with cash rather than replacing a dead car, waiting is a defensible position. If you are financing, note that a price cut after you buy also cuts your resale value, and the first locally assembled units of any model in this country have a settling-in period.
Who should buy the Atto 3, and who should not?
Buy it if you drive 40 to 100 km a day within one city, you own the wall you will mount a charger on, and your household electricity situation is either the EV tariff or a solar array you already paid for. On those facts the running-cost gap against petrol is large enough to matter every single month.
Do not buy it if you regularly drive Lahore to Islamabad and back in a day, if you park on the street, if you are a tenant who cannot install a wallbox, or if your only realistic charging is public DC. In those cases you are paying an EV premium to buy a petrol-equivalent running cost and a range planning problem.
And whatever you decide, decide it on 49.92 kWh.
