Crown Xavier II 4KW (PV-5000) Solar Inverter

The Crown Xavier II 4KW (Crown model PV-5000) is a single-phase 4,000 VA / 4,000 W off-grid inverter-charger on a 24 VDC battery bank, with one MPPT tracker, a 5,000 W PV ceiling, built-in Wi-Fi and dual outputs — and no grid feed-in, which Crown reserves for its 6 kW unit. Pakistani retailers listed it at Rs 115,000 to Rs 125,000 (verified 2026-07-25), with lower asks of Rs 102,000–110,000 seen on a first pass that a second, independent check could not corroborate.


No feed-in, and a naming problem

Two things about this model are routinely misrepresented in Pakistani retail.

It cannot export. Crown's own 2024 Xavier datasheet lists feed-in as "Feed-in to the grid function (Xavier 6KW)" and labels the feature icon for the 6KW alone. Every retailer SolarNevs checked calls the 4KW a hybrid anyway. Since February 2026 that word decides whether the unit participates in net billing at all under the NEPRA Prosumer Regulations 2026, and this one does not.

Its name is unsettled. Crown's datasheet heads the 4 kW column "XAVIER II 4KW", model PV-5000; Pakistani retailers universally list it as "Crown Xavier 4KW" or "Crown Xavier 4KW IP21 PV5000"; Daraz separately carries a "Crown Xavier II 5.6 KW"; and SmartSolar sells a "Crown Xavier 4KW PV6000" for which no Crown datasheet exists. Match the spec plate to the numbers below rather than trusting a title. {/* VERIFY */}

Specifications

Every row is from Crown's own 2024 Xavier 4–6KW datasheet, column "XAVIER II 4KW", with efficiency cross-checked against the earlier X-4KW-M user manual (both fetched 2026-07-25).

Prior revision. The older X-4KW-M manual gives different numbers — 115 × 300 × 400 mm, 9 kg, MPPT 120–450 VDC, start-up 150 VDC ±10, no-load below 40 W, overload 5 s at ≥110%. If your unit's plate matches those, you have the earlier revision, not the 2024 spec.

Honest assessment

What holds up. 120 A of solar charging current and 100 A from AC on a 24 V bank is a genuinely large charger for this class — it will refill a bank fast between outages. A 5,000 W array on a 4,000 W inverter is 25% oversizing headroom, which is the right direction for Pakistani winter yields. Wi-Fi is built in rather than an optional dongle, and the dual-output load management is a real feature at this price.

What does not.

1. 93% peak efficiency. Crown's datasheet prints it twice (spec table and feature icon) and the X-4KW-M manual repeats it. SmartSolar's 96% and SunSolar's 97.5% contradict the manufacturer and are cut.
2. One MPPT tracker. Crown lists a single MPPT range. Split-orientation roofs are not tracked separately.
3. 24 VDC on a 4 kW inverter. Roughly 167 A of DC current at full output. Cable sizing and lug torque stop being optional details.
4. "Inbuilt BMS" names no protocol. Wi-Fi, RS-485 and CAN ports exist; no Pylontech, Dyness or any other handshake is documented. Plan open-loop.
5. Crown contradicts itself. Crown's own 4kW web page states 12 VDC battery voltage and an 80 A built-in MPPT charger against the datasheet's 24 VDC and 120 A. SolarNevs follows the datasheet and flags the conflict rather than picking silently.

Owner feedback: none in written form. No first-hand written owner review of this model could be sourced from any fetchable Pakistani source on 2026-07-25. The only owner-generated evidence for the Crown line as a whole is repair and troubleshooting video content — most visibly around Fault 09 on the Elego 6KW — plus OLX resale listings.

Who should buy it. A 24 V household in one of Crown's five service cities that wants a large charger and 4 kW of backup for around Rs 115,000–125,000 and has no export ambitions. Who should not: anyone who needs net-billing export, anyone buying a 48 V lithium rack, anyone who was sold a "dual MPPT IP65 48 V" version of this unit — that specification does not exist.

The price picture

SolarNevs ran two independent price checks on this SKU on 2026-07-25 and they disagreed.

The published range is Rs 115,000–125,000 because those are the listings an independent re-check reached from scratch; the lower pair was not reproduced. Both re-verified listings were unavailable to buy on the day — the purchasable asks were the lower ones. Practically: budget Rs 115,000, expect Rs 102,000–125,000 across the channel, and if you are quoted under Rs 110,000, confirm in writing that the box is the PV-5000 and not the undocumented "PV6000" SKU. A w11stop.com figure of Rs 115,000 dated 1 July 2026 also circulates; that site returned HTTP 403 to every fetch, so it is not used here.

Pakistan reality check

Heat and dust. Rated -10 °C to 50 °C — and 50 °C is the ambient of an unventilated Multan store-room in June. Crown's fault table lists over-temperature at Fault 02 (component above 100 °C), the 4KW manual adds Fault 05 (converter component above 120 °C), and the anti-dust kit needs monthly cleaning per Crown's manual; a clogged filter is how you arrive at Fault 02. Mount it with clearance and airflow.

Grid instability. 90–280 VAC in appliance mode, 20 ms transfer, and a battery-independent design that runs without a battery connected. Crown's own note on Fault 07 is worth remembering: PV input above specification derates output power, at which point a previously fine load reads as an overload.

Service. Six Crown branches across Lahore (two), Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan and Faisalabad. Fault codes 08, 09, 53 and 57 are classed by Crown as internal component failures requiring the repair centre, so distance to a branch is part of the purchase.

Counterfeits and mislabelling. No counterfeit Crown reports surfaced on 2026-07-25. The documented risk on this SKU is fabricated retailer specifications: SmartSolar's block (48 V, dual MPPT, IP65, RS485/CAN, anti-islanding, 96% efficiency, ~14 kg, -20 °C to +55 °C) contradicts Crown's datasheet on nearly every line and is echoed verbatim by at least one other site. Crown also runs no serial-verification portal.

Price context

At Rs 115,000–125,000 (verified 2026-07-25) the Xavier 4KW sits directly against the Ziewnic Z5 4.5 kVA PV6500 at Rs 104,999–120,000 (verified 2026-07-25) — the closest verified rival, also 24 V, with 4,500 W output and a 6,500 W array ceiling against Crown's 4,000 W and 5,000 W. Ziewnic's counter-argument is an eighteen-centre published service list; Crown's is built-in Wi-Fi and a datasheet that matches the box. The Inverex Veyron II 6kW at Rs 200,000–205,000 (verified 2026-07-25) is the next tier up rather than a like-for-like, and the Maxpower SunBridge and Fronus PV5200 compete here at prices SolarNevs has not verified.

The internal comparison: for roughly Rs 35,000 more than this unit, the Elego-VI-6KW IP21 at Rs 150,000–190,000 moves you to a 48 V bank, 6,000 W of output, 7,000 W of PV and — critically — an inverter that can actually feed the grid.
