Honest assessment

Pros. For a Pakistani commercial site this is the most complete AC charging package on offer: per-session revenue-grade metering (MID-certified on display variants) that can stand behind actual billing, RFID user authentication out of the box, OCPP 1.6 for any charging-network backend, 4G variants for sites without wired internet, and integrated surge plus DC fault protection on a grid with real voltage events. Third-party certification (TÜV, CE/CB/MID/UL) satisfies the kind of procurement checklist a housing society or corporate buyer runs. And the channel - A-Charge/Albario - is precisely oriented toward this buyer: commercial quotes, installation and O&M are its stated business.

Cons. No published price means procurement must extract and benchmark a quote - fine for a company, hostile for an individual. The 22kW rating is stranded capacity for most single-car buyers (onboard AC limits of 6.6-11kW rule), so paying a W22 premium for one family EV buys nothing the W7 doesn't. Three-phase supply is a prerequisite with its own DISCO costs. The smart stack assumes a maintained backend - an office that never configures OCPP or the portal has bought a very certified dumb charger. And the generation question stands here too: ABB globally sells Terra AC 2.0; confirm in writing which generation the quote covers.

Pakistan reality check

Availability. Quote via A-Charge (acharge.com.pk, Lahore) - no Pakistani retail shelf, OLX ad or Daraz listing shows any ABB charger on 2 August 2026, while W11Stop's EV shelf sells RNR and Tesla EVX 22kW units with printed prices. A-Charge also quotes the Terra Fast DC line (50-180kW class) for sites that actually need DC speed - a different budget class entirely.

Three-phase and sanctioned load. The W22 presumes 380-415V three-phase; a domestic upgrade starts around Rs 63,000 in demand-notice costs before line work, and every added kW of sanctioned load carries monthly fixed charges under S.R.O. 279(I)/2026. For commercial premises that already hold three-phase supply, the marginal cost is wiring and breaker capacity - 32A per phase, continuous. The 20/80 rule still applies. AC charging - even 22kW - is overnight/dwell-time charging. It does not compete with DC fast charging for road trips and does not need to; the W22's job is that every car parked at the site leaves full. Cars here are Type 2 AC (officially-sold BYD, MG and peers); grey GB/T imports need adapters and are a poor fit for a shared charger you expect strangers to use.

Heat and siting. IP54/IK10 suits covered parking and building exteriors; the -35 to +50°C window with possible derating means a shaded, ventilated mounting wall is part of the spec, not a nicety, in Sindh and south Punjab summers. Multi-unit sites should also plan load management - the built-in meter plus RS485 external-meter input exists to stop four W22s tripping a building main.
