ABB EV Chargers

ABB is the only EV-charger brand in Pakistan whose wallbox arrives through a named, official-channel importer rather than a grey consignment: the Terra AC (7.4/11/22 kW, Type 2) is offered by A-Charge, a subsidiary of Lahore's Albario Engineering, which names ABB Power & Automation as its strategic partner. We publish no Pakistani price for any ABB charger - as of 2 August 2026 the official channel is quote-only with no number on any page, and no Pakistani retailer, OLX or Daraz listing shows one.

That combination is the whole story of this hub. Every other wallbox in this market has a price and a provenance problem; the ABB has provenance and no price. For a spec-sheet buyer the Terra AC is the most heavily certified charger you can get here - CE, CB, MID and UL marks, TÜV-listed, revenue-grade metering - but you cannot comparison-shop a number that only exists on private quotations.

Figures from ABB's official Terra AC brochure (9AKK107680A2257 Rev D). ABB's global page now headlines the Terra AC 2.0 IEC generation; A-Charge's Pakistani page carries the original family's spec block - ask which generation your quote covers, in writing.

Honest assessment

Pros. This is the deepest-certified wallbox reachable in Pakistan: independent third-party safety certification (TÜV-listed, CE/CB/MID/UL), a built-in Class B revenue-grade meter no rival on the local shelf offers, built-in DC fault detection that can spare you an expensive Type B RCD in the DB, surge protection built in, and OCPP 1.6 so it is not locked to any backend. The channel is the other genuine pro: A-Charge is a subsidiary of an established Lahore engineering firm with named offices and phone lines, and ABB itself has operated in Pakistan for over 25 years by its own press record. If a claim goes wrong, there is a Pakistani business with an address attached to this product - which is exactly what the Rs 100,000-class imports lack.

Cons. No published price, anywhere, is a real cost. You cannot benchmark a quotation nobody else can see, and B2B quote channels price residential one-off buyers last. The channel's centre of gravity is commercial and fleet work (its DC line and Star Charge portfolio), so a single-wallbox home order may move slowly. ABB's Pakistani corporate presence is power-grid and switchgear, not consumer e-mobility - do not read "ABB has been here 25 years" as "there is a Terra AC service desk". And the generation question is live: ABB globally sells Terra AC 2.0, while the local page shows the original family - a first-generation unit is not a defect, but you should know which you are quoted.

Who should buy. Buyers who value a named local counterparty and certification depth over sticker transparency - housing societies, offices, fleet depots, and homeowners who are comfortable requesting and negotiating a quote. A price-first residential buyer gets a faster, checkable deal from the live shelf: RNR at Rs 108,000, Wallbox Pulsar Max at Rs 250,000, Tesla units at Rs 285,000-300,000 (all live 2 August 2026).

Pakistan reality check

The official-channel paradox. Most "EV charger" listings in Pakistan are grey imports with no local warranty path - that is the market's defining problem, and our home EV charger guide documents it. ABB inverts it: the channel is legitimate and named, but publishes nothing a buyer can price against. On 2 August 2026, A-Charge's Terra AC page carries full specs and a "Talk to an Expert" button - no number. OLX: zero ABB charger listings. Daraz: zero. W11Stop - which stocks ABB breakers from Rs 980 to Rs 78,000 on its switchgear shelf - carries no ABB charger on its EV shelf. The ABB badge is everywhere in Pakistani electrical rooms and nowhere in charger retail.

Who you are actually dealing with. A-Charge states it is a subsidiary of Albario Engineering (Pvt) Ltd (AEPL), with ABB Power & Automation and Star Charge as strategic partners, offices at 91-C Model Town and Defence Road, Lahore, and a locate-a-charger network page. Separately, AMT Electric (Islamabad/Lahore/Karachi) is an authorized ABB distributor for LV/MV/Motion products - switchgear, not chargers. Neither publishes charger prices. When you request a quote, ask A-Charge to state on it: the exact order code (e.g. TAC-W7-T-R-C-0), the generation (Terra AC or Terra AC 2.0), the warranty term and servicing party, and the installation scope.

Sanctioned load comes before any of this. The W7 draws 32A single-phase flat out; most domestic connections are sanctioned at 2-5kW, so a load extension - and since S.R.O. 279(I)/2026, per-kW monthly fixed charges - precede the purchase. The W22 needs three-phase outright. The domestic Time-of-Use off-peak rate to plan around is Rs 34.53/kWh, not the misquoted Rs 23.57 commercial-station tariff. The guide walks the DISCO process; the short version is that the meter upgrade can cost more over five years than the wallbox.

Type 2 is the right fit - check the car and the boot. Terra AC is Type 2 (IEC 62196-2), matching the officially-sold EVs in Pakistan (BYD, MG and peers). Grey-imported Chinese-market cars on GB/T AC need an adapter. And before requesting any quote, open the boot: most new EVs here ship with a portable charger in the box (Haval, for example, bundles a 2.3kW unit), which covers modest daily mileage from an existing socket and turns the wallbox into a convenience purchase.

Heat and siting. The datasheet window is -35°C to +50°C with the explicit note "derating may apply", IP54 sealing and IK10 impact rating. A 45°C+ afternoon against a sun-struck wall sits near the top of the window - mount shaded and ventilated. IP54 handles monsoon rain and dust, not immersion.
