The ABB Terra AC W7 is a 7.4kW, single-phase, 32A Type 2 wallbox - the home-sized model of the most heavily certified charger family reachable in Pakistan, sold here through the official quote channel of A-Charge (Albario Engineering, Lahore). We publish no Pakistani price for it: as of 2 August 2026, A-Charge's live product page carries full specifications and no number, and no Pakistani retail listing, OLX ad or Daraz result for any ABB charger exists. The European reference sticker is EUR 439 ex VAT (socket version) - roughly Rs 140,600 at today's interbank rate, before freight, duty, taxes and margin.

Specifications

The built-in DC residual-current detection matters in Pakistan: it means a standard Type A RCD in your distribution board can suffice instead of a Rs-expensive Type B device - confirm the RCD pairing with your installer against the manual - a real installation saving most cheap wallboxes quietly push onto your electrician's bill.

Honest assessment

Pros. Certification depth no shelf rival matches (CE, CB, MID, UL, TÜV-listed), a revenue-grade Class B meter built in - useful the day a housing society or employer wants charging billed - integrated surge protection on a grid that needs it, OCPP 1.6 openness, and remote software updates. The channel is a named Pakistani company with Lahore offices, not a freight-forwarded mystery. At 320 × 195 × 110 mm it is also genuinely compact, and the cable variants wrap the lead around the body without an extra hook.

Cons. The price opacity is the deal-breaker for comparison shoppers - a quote-only product in a market where the Wallbox Pulsar Max (Rs 250,000) and Tesla Gen 3 (Rs 300,000) print numbers and stock counts. A residential single-unit order sits at the bottom of a B2B channel's queue. The app/portal ecosystem (ChargerSync) assumes connectivity and a live backend; a socket-variant unit without RFID falls back gracefully, but smart features are the point of paying ABB money. And ABB globally now headlines the Terra AC 2.0 generation while the Pakistani channel's page shows the original family - not a flaw, but ask which one your quote covers, in writing.

Who should buy. Homes and small offices that want a certified, meterable, locally-backed wallbox and will actually negotiate a quote; anyone wiring charging into a building where billing or an energy-management system may follow. A buyer who just wants the cheapest safe 7kW box should price the RNR at Rs 108,000 and spend the difference on the DISCO load extension.

Pakistan reality check

Getting one. One route: A-Charge (acharge.com.pk, +92 42 111 00 1954, Model Town / Defence Road, Lahore). Request a quote naming an exact order code and generation. There is no shelf to walk to - on 2 August 2026 no Pakistani charger retailer, OLX or Daraz listing carries any ABB wallbox, while the same shops stock RNR, Wallbox, Tesla and Teltonika with prices. Grey-importing a Terra AC yourself from an EU shop is possible (EUR 439 ex VAT, currently out of stock at the reference seller) but discards the one thing that makes ABB worth it here: a local counterparty.

Sanctioned load first. 32A continuous on one phase needs about 7kW of headroom that a 2-5kW domestic sanction does not have. The W7's configurable current limit is the honest fallback: run it at 16A on a smaller sanction and accept slower charging.

The car may already have a charger in the boot. Officially-sold EVs here take Type 2 AC, matching the W7 - but most ship with a portable charger included (Haval bundles a 2.3kW unit, for example). For a 30-40km daily commute, that box plus an off-peak window often suffices, making the wallbox a comfort upgrade rather than a necessity. Grey-imported GB/T cars need an adapter before any Type 2 wallbox makes sense.

Heat, dust, monsoon. IP54 and IK10 handle dust and rain; the -35 to +50°C window with "derating may apply" is the number to respect. A west-facing wall in Multan or Jacobabad in June pushes ambient past comfort - mount shaded, and if the unit derates on a 47°C afternoon, that is the design working, not a fault. Overnight off-peak charging sidesteps the issue entirely.
