What do solar panels cost in Jeddah today?

Start with the figures that are actually verifiable, then adjust for the coast.

Our own Saudi survey recorded a 270W 24V polycrystalline module at Riyadh-registered specialty retailer dlel.sa at SAR 250 on 5 August 2026 — SAR 0.93 per watt, dated and logged in our Saudi solar panel price index. Brand-name large-format stock is higher per watt: published in-stock Longi 630W to 660W listings at solarcells.sa ran SAR 750 to SAR 950 (August 2026), or roughly 1.19 to 1.44 SAR per watt.

Neither of those is a "Jeddah price", and that is the point. Saudi specialty retailers publish one national price list. We looked specifically for city-differentiated panel pricing in the Kingdom and did not find any that was verifiable, so we are not going to manufacture a Jeddah premium or a Jeddah discount out of nothing. So what actually costs more in Jeddah?

Two things, and neither of them is the module.

The first is getting the hardware to you. The Saudi retailers with real published prices are concentrated in Riyadh — dlel.sa publishes a Riyadh registration — so a Jeddah order carries a delivery line. Ask for it as a number before you commit, not as "we will sort it out". Heavy freight on a full array is not a rounding error, and a quote that folds it invisibly into the total is a quote you cannot compare.

The second is corrosion grade. A rooftop three kilometres from the Red Sea lives in salt aerosol. The modules themselves are sealed and largely indifferent; the mounting rails, clamps, fasteners, earthing straps, cable glands and DC connectors are not. Marine-grade stainless fasteners and properly anodised or coated aluminium cost more than the generic equivalents that are perfectly adequate in Riyadh, and this is the single most common place a coastal Saudi quote is quietly cheapened.

Write the corrosion specification into the quote. "Stainless fasteners" is not a specification; a named grade is.

Does Jeddah's climate change what you should buy?

It changes the balance of system and the cleaning plan more than it changes the panel choice.

Humidity is the difference that surprises people. Inland dust in Riyadh is dry and largely rinses off. On the Jeddah coast, night-time humidity and dew wet that dust before it dries, and the result cements onto the glass in a way that resists a quick hose-down. The maintenance consequence is not "clean more often" so much as "clean properly, and design the roof so someone safely can".

Coastal haze and airborne moisture also scatter more of the incoming light than the drier inland air does, which shifts a little of the resource from direct to diffuse. It does not make Jeddah a poor solar site — it remains an excellent one — but it is a reason to be sceptical of a yield estimate that was clearly generated for a generic Saudi location. Ask which location the installer's simulation used.

Ambient heat matters everywhere in the Kingdom. A module's temperature coefficient is what decides how much of its nameplate rating survives a Jeddah July, and it is the strongest technical case for a modern N-type module over legacy polycrystalline stock even though the poly panel wins on the per-watt sticker.

What does a whole system cost in Jeddah?

We do not publish an installed figure, because none is public. Every Saudi turnkey supplier we checked prices by quotation, and inventing an installed cost per kilowatt to fill the gap would be exactly the behaviour this site exists to argue against.

Does a Jeddah address change your electricity tariff?

No. The Saudi consumption tariff is national. A Jeddah household pays the same published residential rate as one in Riyadh or Dammam — consistently reported as 18 halalas per kWh up to 6,000 kWh a month and 30 halalas above, plus a fixed meter charge and 15 percent VAT. We flag those as well-corroborated secondary figures: the regulator's own tariff page was not reachable when we researched this, and we would rather label the gap than paper over it.

The export side is where the economics are decided, and it is also national. Saudi Arabia runs net billing, not net metering, so exported energy earns a low fixed credit instead of offsetting imports one for one. If a Jeddah salesperson quotes you a payback built on net metering, the number is wrong before you check anything else.

How do you check that the panels are what the quote says?

Jeddah Islamic Port is one of the Kingdom's main import gateways, which means a great deal of the country's solar hardware physically enters through this city. That is neutral in itself — but it does mean a Jeddah buyer is closer to the point where documented and undocumented stock diverge.

The formal control is SASO conformity. Imported goods entering Saudi Arabia are covered by the SALEEM/SABER conformity regime administered by SASO, which is the mechanism intended to keep non-conforming product out of the market. Ask your installer which conformity documentation covers the exact modules being supplied, and ask for it before delivery rather than after.

The informal control is your own eyes at handover. Get brand, model and wattage in writing in the quote, then check the serial numbers and datasheet class on the pallet against that paperwork when it arrives. A substitution is far easier to refuse on the day than to argue about a month later.
