Both rows sit dated in our Saudi price index, and both are national retail prices rather than quotes. That matters in a market where, as our guide to the solar system cost in Saudi Arabia sets out, most of the solar trade publishes no prices at all.
What is the honest per-kilowatt-hour rate?
Here is where a listing's headline number stops being useful and arithmetic takes over.
The Anker SOLIX F1500 stores 1,536Wh — that is 1.536 kilowatt-hours of LiFePO4 capacity, per the manufacturer's own specification, with 1,800W of continuous AC output and up to 600W of solar input. Dividing our surveyed SAR 4,999 by 1.536 kWh gives roughly SAR 3,254 per kilowatt-hour of stored energy.
Now put that beside fixed storage in the same country and the same month. In our solar battery price in KSA guide, verified Saudi gel and lithium batteries worked out at roughly SAR 587 to SAR 1,017 per usable kilowatt-hour once realistic depth of discharge was applied. A portable station is therefore in the region of three to five times the cost of fixed storage for the same stored energy.
That is not an accusation of overcharging. You are buying a sealed enclosure, an inverter, a charge controller, a battery management system, sockets, a screen and the ability to pick the whole thing up — components you would otherwise buy and wire separately. It is simply the wrong product for the job of storing a household's evening load, and the arithmetic says so plainly.
Why can we not price the GOUI unit the same way?
Because the listing does not say how much energy it holds.
The eXtra listing our survey captured describes the GOUI station as "800W" with voice control. 800 watts is output power — what it can run at one instant. It says nothing about watt-hours, which is how long it can run anything. A 800W station could hold 500Wh or 2,000Wh; the price of SAR 2,799 means something completely different in each case.
We could have guessed the capacity from the model family and published a per-kilowatt-hour figure. We did not, because a number that looks derived but rests on a guess is worse than an admitted blank. So the row stands as a price with no energy rate attached, and the finding is the point: if a listing gives you watts and not watt-hours, it has not told you the size of the battery.
Ask for the watt-hour figure before you buy. If a seller cannot produce it, that is your answer about the seller.
What is a portable power station actually good for in Saudi Arabia?
Three roles, all of them real.
The first is backup. A unit with a proper uninterruptible-supply switchover keeps a router, a fridge or medical equipment running through an outage without any of the wiring or approvals a fixed system needs. The Anker's specified sub-20-millisecond switchover puts it in that category.
The second is off-grid work. Farms, remote pumps, site cabins and desert trips have loads that no grid serves. A station with a real solar input — the F1500 is specified for up to 600W with MPPT — becomes a small self-contained generator with no fuel, no noise and no exhaust. In a country where solar pumping systems are already a mainstream retail category, that is a natural fit.
The third is renting nothing and installing nothing. Tenants and apartment residents cannot bolt an array to a roof they do not own, and cannot apply to SEC for a connection on someone else's meter. A plug-in station is the only storage many Saudi households can legally deploy.

How does this compare with buying a rooftop system?
Very differently, and the gap widens the more energy you need.
A rooftop system in Saudi Arabia earns its keep by avoiding the import tariff on energy you consume yourself, because the Kingdom runs net billing and credits exports at a low fixed rate. A portable station has no grid relationship at all: it does not export, it does not offset a tariff slab, and it does not appear on your SEC account.
The two are complements, not competitors. A household with a rooftop array and fixed storage may still want a station for the car, the farm or the emergency cupboard. What should you check before buying one in KSA?
Get the watt-hour capacity in writing, from the manufacturer's specification rather than the retailer's headline. Then do the division yourself: price divided by kilowatt-hours is the only number that lets you compare two stations.
Check the chemistry. LiFePO4 units are heavier and last far longer than the older lithium-ion chemistries still sold in this category, and in Saudi ambient temperatures that difference is not academic.
Check the solar input rating if you intend to charge from panels, and confirm the connector and voltage window match whatever panel you plan to use.
