What the Deepal S07 is

The Deepal S07 is a rear-wheel-drive, battery-electric (BEV) five-seat SUV from Changan's EV brand Deepal, sold in Pakistan by Master Changan Motors. As of 26 July 2026 its ex-factory price is Rs 14,999,000 for the single EV variant — confirmed identically by PakWheels, Deepal Pakistan's official site and GadiDrive.

Plainly: no petrol engine, no fuel tank, no range extender. Deepal sells EREV versions of the S07 in China, and its own Pakistani S05 is a range-extender. Anyone describing the S07 as having "a backup engine for long trips" is describing a different vehicle.

One variant only. Ex-factory excludes registration and provincial taxes; Deepal Pakistan states freight and CVT are included — get that in writing. It launched in August 2024 at Rs 16,500,000, so the price has fallen Rs 1.5 million. Anyone quoting Rs 16.5m is working from 2024 material.

Basis: 21 kWh per 100 km at the wall, including roughly 10% AC charging loss. The S07 is 140 kg heavier than the L07 sedan, taller and less slippery, and Pakistan's first owner reported ~380 km in city driving against 485 km claimed.

Read that last row carefully, because nobody selling you an EV will show it to you: on public DC charging alone, the S07 costs more per kilometre than a Haval H6 HEV — Rs 24.15 versus Rs 20.72 — and the H6 HEV is Rs 3.25 million cheaper to buy. The S07's running-cost case depends entirely on charging at home or from your own roof.

The SolarNevs line: self-consumed rooftop solar makes the marginal cost of a kilometre roughly Rs 0. At 21 kWh/100 km, a 585W panel generating about 2.3 kWh/day in Pakistani conditions covers about 11 km per day — so 30 km/day needs 3 panels (~1.76 kW), 50 km/day needs 5 (~2.93 kW), 80 km/day needs 8 (~4.68 kW). Those are panels dedicated to the car, on top of household load, and they only work if the car is home and plugged in during daylight.

Honest assessment

Pros. For Rs 15 million you get a well-equipped SUV: 15.6-inch "Sunflower" rotating touchscreen on Snapdragon 8155, AR head-up display, Sony 14-speaker system, panoramic roof, gesture control, 360-degree camera, triple-zone climate, ventilated seats. 6.7 seconds to 100 km/h at this size is genuinely rapid. Pakistan's first owner — Dr Waqar Ali, previously a Tesla and Revo owner — called it futuristic and recommended it.

Cons. Range is the S07's problem. On the same 66.8 kWh pack as the L07 it claims 485 km rather than 540 km, and real-world does worse still: ~380 km in city driving by the first owner's account. That owner also reported something counterintuitive — his residential charger beat the industrial charger he tried, which increased charge time. International reviewers flag the same two issues: mediocre range, unremarkable charging speed. Everything is buried in the touchscreen, and 1,900 kg on a modest pack in 45-degree Punjab heat will not flatter these numbers.

Who should buy it. A two-car household in Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad doing 40-80 km/day, with rooftop solar and a wall box at home, that keeps another car for Murree or Karachi-Hyderabad runs. If this would be your only car and you drive intercity monthly, the maths does not work yet.

Pakistan reality check

Real vs claimed range. 485 km is an NEDC figure — the most generous of the common cycles, not comparable to WLTP or EPA. Pakistani owners across brands report roughly 28% below claim on highways with AC running; the first S07 owner's ~380 km city figure is about 22% below, and highway numbers will be worse. Budget on 340-360 km mixed.

Battery and warranty. The published structure is 5 years / 120,000 km vehicle, 8 years / 240,000 km battery, 8 years / 150,000 km electric drive. Those terms are documented for the Deepal line here, but we found no S07-specific warranty booklet online — ask for it before booking. And the number that decides your ownership risk is not published: Deepal Pakistan has never stated what a replacement 66.8 kWh pack costs. Independent Pakistani estimates for packs this size run Rs 800,000 to Rs 1.3 million-plus, and a replacement can be 20-40% of a used EV's value. Demand a written figure; if the dealer cannot produce one, price that uncertainty into your offer.

Home charging after net billing. Since 9 February 2026 new rooftop solar connections are on net billing: exports earn about Rs 11/unit against import costs of Rs 50+ landed. Exporting surplus is now close to pointless, so charging the S07 between roughly 10am and 4pm off your own panels — self-consumption, not export — is the highest-value use of a rooftop system in 2026. Agreements dated before 9 Feb 2026 keep their old 1:1 terms.

Charging network. NEECA has licensed 70+ stations nationally, but a licence is not an energised charger: 2025-26 reporting documents delays on DISCO connections, separate meters and NOCs, leaving roughly 20 genuinely reliable public points nationwide. Changan's pledged $50 million and chargers in 17 cities are commitment, not concrete. Public DC runs Rs 110-150/kWh (Karachi ~Rs 112, Lahore ~Rs 115, Shell Recharge's 180 kW units Rs 130), far above the NEV Policy's Rs 39.70/kWh cap.

Load-shedding and monsoon. On a feeder with hours of daily outage, a 7 kW wall box alone will not reliably fill 66.8 kWh overnight; solar plus storage stops being optional. Packs of this class are typically sealed to around IP67 — good for standing water, not submersion — and Deepal Pakistan does not publish the S07's rating. If the car has stood in water above the sill, do not restart it. Tow it and get it inspected; a restarted submerged EV is a fire risk and will not be covered.

Resale and state of health. Pakistan has no established used-EV pricing data and no standard battery state-of-health report at resale. Early local indicators suggest EVs track petrol cars on year-one depreciation but fall away faster by years three to five. Nobody can tell you what a 2026 S07 is worth in 2031 — buy it to keep, not to flip. Service coverage is 18 dealerships across 17 cities: respectable for an EV brand here, far thinner than the Japanese names.
