Most Pakistani EV owners never buy a wallbox, and the market data explains why: every official-import EV ships with a portable charging cable in the boot, the big launches have repeatedly bundled a free 7kW wall charger, and the gap left over is filled by generic portable units - Rs 70,000-150,000 at retail importers as of 2 August 2026, or Rs 23,500-49,125 as no-name asks on OLX the same day. This page covers that reality: what the car brands actually give you, what the generic portable hardware is, and which of it has any warranty behind it.

The channel structure matters more than any single price. W11Stop - the electronics retailer whose category page is dated July 2026 - stocks wallboxes, DC guns, cables and adapters but not a single portable EVSE. Portable units live in two places instead: a handful of specialist importers (EV Chargers Pakistan, Acom, SK Bizcorp) selling with 1-3 year importer warranties, and the classifieds, where the same class of Chinese hardware is sold person-to-person with no warranty path at all. The spread between those channels for a "7kW portable" was 3.4x on the day we checked.

The classifieds row is the honest bottom of this market: seven live OLX asks between Rs 23,500 and Rs 49,125 on 2 August 2026, including a "7KW Portable Ev Charger" at Rs 29,000 in Gujranwala - less than a third of the retail price for the same claimed rating. What the extra Rs 70,000 at retail buys is an importer who exists, a warranty term in writing, and specifications that at least come from a product page rather than a photo caption. Whether that is worth 3.4x is the whole buying decision in this category.

Honest assessment

Pros. The economics genuinely favour not buying a wallbox. The car comes with a working charger; the launch campaigns have handed out 7kW wallboxes free (BYD in writing, with free installation on the Sealion 7); and a Rs 100,000 32A portable delivers the same energy per hour as a Rs 250,000 Wallbox Pulsar Max, minus the app. For a 40km/day commute - roughly 8kWh - even the in-box granny cable finishes the job in 3-4 overnight hours. Cons. Almost everything in this category is a grey or generic import. No portable EVSE sold in Pakistan has a manufacturer service network; the importer's 1-3 year promise is the entire warranty, and below retail there is no promise at all. Spec claims are unverifiable - "CE / TUV certified" appears on listings with no certificate shown, and OLX units claiming "7kW" through a 13A plug are physically lying. The 7.2kW units carry a hidden electrical cost: a real 32A circuit, and the sanctioned-load consequences our guide details (fixed charges are now billed per sanctioned kW). And OEM bundles are campaign offers with expiry dates - the free wallbox your neighbour got in February is not automatically in your August booking.

Who should buy. Every EV buyer should first extract, in writing, what their booking includes - that free 7kW wallbox is worth Rs 100,000-250,000 of this page. Buyers whose car came with only the granny cable and who drive modest daily distances need nothing more. High-mileage drivers should price the Rs 100,000 32A portable against a proper wallbox installation - and read the model page's socket-reality section first. Nobody should buy the OLX no-name units to charge an eight-million-rupee car through an unverified plastic box.

Pakistan reality check

What the brands actually give you - verified, with dates. BYD Pakistan (with Mega Motor Company) launched the Atto 2 (Rs 7.29m) and Sealion 7 (Rs 15.49m) on 30 January 2026 with a "complimentary 7 kW wall-mounted home charger" for both, free installation of that charger for Sealion 7 buyers, and two free HubcoGreen charging sessions for Atto 2 buyers - valid for bookings to 28 February 2026. A dealer campaign in August-September 2025 gave MG4 (Rs 8.545m) and ZS EV (Rs 9.545m) buyers "a free 7kW home charger" - explicitly a dealer-specific campaign, not nationwide MG policy. Changan Deepal's August 2024 pre-booking offer for the S07/L07 included a complimentary 7kW wall charger. The pattern is consistent: launch-window bundles, then quiet withdrawal. Ask what today's offer is; get it on the booking form.

The in-box cable. BYD's Pakistani dealer listing for the Atto 3 states "Portable Charging Cable Included," and BYD-focused guides describe it as a Mode 2 unit good for up to 3.7kW with a full charge taking over 24 hours. MG's global spec for the MG4/ZS EV includes a Mode 2 three-pin cable, but MG Pakistan's official pages do not publish box contents - confirm at delivery, because a missing granny cable is a Rs 70,000+ problem. Note the arithmetic cuts both ways: over 24 hours empty-to-full sounds disqualifying, but nobody arrives home empty every day; at 40km/day the same cable is done before midnight.

Sanctioned load and the DISCO meter - the part no listing mentions. A 7.2kW portable pulls ~32A continuously; most Pakistani domestic connections are sanctioned at 2-5kW. Since the February 2026 tariff rationalisation, fixed charges are billed per kilowatt of sanctioned load (Rs 200-675/kW/month) - raising your sanctioned load to feed a 7kW charger costs money every month forever, and our home charger guide puts that at up to Rs 73,800/year against a 3kW baseline. The honest conclusion carries over here: for most households a 3kW-class portable on the existing connection is the rational buy, and the 7.2kW unit only makes sense with a load extension or existing three-phase supply.

7kW single-phase vs 11/22kW three-phase. Everything portable in this market is single-phase. 11kW and 22kW are wallbox territory and require a three-phase connection (from ~Rs 63,000 to install, per our guide) - and a car that accepts more than 7kW AC, which many official imports do not. Beware the inverse trap too: CNC Electric's Rs 105,000 "7kW" wallbox is a three-phase 16A unit that will not run on a single-phase house at all. Check the phase rating before the kilowatt rating, on every listing.

Type 2 vs GB/T vs Type 1. Official-import EVs in Pakistan (BYD, MG, Deepal) are Type 2 AC / CCS2 DC, so every portable on this page fits them. Japanese grey imports need Type 1 - live OLX listings sell Type 1 portables for the Prius PHV crowd, and Type 2-to-Type 1 adapters run Rs 18,000 (W11Stop) to Rs 25,000 (EV Chargers Pakistan). Chinese-market grey imports may carry GB/T AC ports; Acom lists a Type 2-to-GB/T 32A adapter at Rs 58,000. An adapter is a contact-resistance point in a 32A circuit - buy the properly rated one, not the cheapest.

The warranty path, channel by channel. EV Chargers Pakistan: "1 / 3 Years Warranty" advertised, an actual office to pursue. SK Bizcorp: "1 Year Product Warranty" stated on the GK E16 product page. Acom: prices listed, warranty terms not - get it in writing before transferring money. OLX: nothing. OEM-bundled wallboxes: warranty runs through the car dealer, which is the strongest paper in this market - one more reason the free campaign charger is worth chasing at booking time.

Price context vs rivals (August 2026)

The rival to a portable charger is a wallbox. Live listings, 2 August 2026:

Two readings of that table. First, the portable price ladder is incoherent - a 3kW COPKA at Rs 125,000 and a 3.68kW GK at Rs 150,000 both cost more than the 7.2kW unit at Rs 100,000, which tells you brand-less pricing in this category is whatever the importer paid that month, so shop the spec, not the shelf. Second, the branded-wallbox premium is real: Rs 108,000 buys a wall-mounted RNR 7.4kW at W11Stop, barely more than the portable - but Rs 245,000-300,000 for Autel/Wallbox/Tesla buys app control, scheduled charging and proper installation paperwork, not more kilowatts.
